Fake Steve Jobs interview + iPhone boycott

3 07 2007

CNET has interviewed Fake Steve Jobs and it is seriously funny.

The most common criticism of iPhone, other than the cost, is the AT&T service contract (two years!). Keep in mind that AT&T/Cingular/Bell South is also profiting from the sale of iPhones at their own storefronts. AT&T has a million critics, particularly because of their willingness to assist the Bush administration with repeated violations of the personal security and privacy of Americans.

Wired magazine reports AT&T built a secret room inside a San Francisco office to help the NSA carry out wiretaps without warrants -against its own customers! Americans who pay AT&T and pay taxes without speaking out about the Bush/Cheney administration are directly supporting fascist activities by more than just a small, isolated number of individuals.

Working Assets has called for a boycott of iPhones until other network providers are offered. The phone company expressly supports varying political activities with whatever chunk of its budget it can afford, though they no longer employ Geov Parrish, so times are maybe tougher for smaller telecoms. Real Steve Jobs has not spoken to the issue on AT&T directly, only commenting that their network is global, says David Cassel.

[...] Oh yeah. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a boycotted tech item go up in smoke! For more information on why iPhone is being boycotted, see here. [...]
