In the Spring of this year, I began to cover issues of representation in mass media on Digital Crossroads. One of the best interviews I’ve done yet was with Carla Brooks, who is a graduate student at Howard University. She is now in the process of completing her thesis, doing research into the problems of uncritical consumption of mass media.
Carla will be a guest again soon on Digital Crossroads. Here is an article that references her, about the Free Press national media reform conference. I met her there in Memphis.
“What do they really think about misogyny in Hip Hop? Are they just passive consumers or are they concerned?” -Carla Brooks
